:thumbup:Hey fellas - I'll be in Disney in June and am looking to plan a fishing trip while I'm there. A half day trip is all I'll be able to get in while I'm there. I won't have room to take any of my gear so I'm looking for a guided bass trip in which equipment is provided.

I've done some searches and come up with some trips but like to get some feedback from people that have actually fished the area and/or used guides in the area.

Again - I'm looking for some monster FL bass, no other type of fishing

Your in the middle of it there. I have no spacific info for you but in that area any body of water is gonna have 'em.

I know Id need a fishing trip if I had to go to Disney. Otherwise Id probably jump off the hotel roof by the time it was over..... Jake doesnt do well in tourist traps. :o

Have a good time man. ;)

Bay Lake at Disney is supposed to have some of the best Bass fishing in Florida. If you can swing it, stay at the hotel right on the lake. I think they have guided fishing there too.

Yeah, there is a huge lake right there at Disney. I think they even have a big bass tourney on it each year. You have to take a small ferry across it to get from the campground to the main park.

Kissimmee/St. Cloud has Lake Toho and several small lakes. I found one while driving and stopped to fish for a bit and caught a 7 pounder on a spinner bait. The spawn is beginning so fishing should be good...

Either do I, Jake. On top of that I'll be there with an Army of in-laws. 12 in total....

I need to fish... I'll be working out quite a bit when I'm there too

Thanks for the tips fellas - I'll do some searching with the names you gave me.

.

You guys gonna have those color cordinated tshirts?? You know the ones that say "myright 5th annual family vacation" :p

Those always crack me up... :D

Good luck fishing bro! You should do well in that area:thumbup:

If anyone tries to give me one of those shirts I'll hang myself with it....

At least we have our own place - last year we all stayed in one house. It was a big house, but there is no getting away from 12 people...

Thanks, hopefully I'll have some cool pics to post of some 5+ pounders.

Yup - he created a few cases of 60 minute IPA from Dogfish a bottle of Grand Marnier and about 2 gallons of margaritas :) Oh and he did the right thing and rolled a couple of cigars for me too :)

I hear Tillicum is hungry but not at Disney. Try chumming with tourists and then trolling with a blond whale trainer.

Myright,
June in Orlando afternoon showers should be between 3 and 4pm and the fish usually go nutz about that time (it drops bug out of the air and small animals through the run off ditches). Texas rig plastic worm is usually lethal (tended to favor red/black, gold or purple colors). I’ll second the premises guided tours. Speckled perch and bass should be pretty good, if they offer it fishing with live bait (shiners) should be awesome! Anywhere in that area on or off Disney the fishing should be great. Lake Apopka and that area eclipsed Okeechobee a few years ago for quality (big) fish. Another relaxing past time is trolling for Gators with in-laws and obnoxious small dogs:D
I spent about 3 years going to the University of Central Florida(East side of Orlando from 95~98) and basically did subsistence fishing because the dorm food sucked!
Have fun,
Ray

Great response, Ray. I really do appreciate it. The bass up here are pretty much trained to strike any color yamamoto worms. I originally thought about just renting a boat but then figured it may a more productive trip with a guide. Im going to head probably on my own that day so it should be a blast. I'll be sure to post pics of the trip.

Rent a boat if you want but if all you can get is walking a few retention ponds with a cheap/disposable Wal-Mart rod and $5 is artificial worms don’t pass it up. Roommate and I used to limit out pretty quickly just doing that. You can pull nice fish out of absurdly tiny little run off ponds. If you are thinking about eating any of them I was averaging about 1 in 3 to 5 fish had parasites coming out of the smaller lakes/ponds. Might not be an actual risk if cooked thoroughly but I never wanted to risk it.

I might have to dig out some old photos and post them along with a story or 2.

I lived down there from 85-92 worked constrution all over central fla. any pond that doesn't dry up will ave decent bass in it . as oldschool said I have seen obsurd size bass come out of ponds small enough you would doubt there would be minnows in. Use dark rubber worms texas rigged I use 10"-12" rubber worms and don't get as many hits from small bass. I once caught 11 bass two hours in a small pond in a city park in Orlando smallest was 4 lbs largest was 5 1/2lbs

You talking about flukes in the fins and meat? I've read they don't pose a threat if you cook the fish well. Still not very appetizing.

I don't eat what I catch unless it is out of the ocean anyway. I've gotten so used to throwing everything back from the ponds around here because of all the health advisories on fish that I have no desire to eat a bass at all.

It would be cool to see some faces of people if I were to filet a fish on the top of a trash can in Epcot. :D
