I was out with my Son this afternoon and thought we'd go by our local tackle
shop which we haven't been in for quite some time.

I ended up picking this knife up and taking a look at it, and it had no price tag. I wasn't sure even what it was at first. I still don't really know the model number or anything else about it other than a Strider/Buck collab?
Anyhow, she let me have it for $40. Sorry I can't post pic's on here but did
link it up to my Flickr account, here it is.

Can anyone tell me anything about it? I looked up the code and it looks to have been made around the year 2000 and is marked SB.1 and on flip side
Bos BG-42. Thanks.

Sean

Its a original first production model tanto 880 buck strider. It has the original rougher g-10 slabs, single thumbstub, and bg-42 blade.nice find!

Very nice knife and for $40 I believe you got a good deal. The Strider/Bucks go for a bit more. I am sure one of our experts will be with you soon.

Thanks for the info guys. It came good and dusty so it must have been sitting around somewhere for a few years.

Nice find! Thanks for sharing! If you do a search online, its about a $100-$150+++ If you have the box and such! ;) Heck, even just the knife alone. Thats a nice first production with the BG-42 blade. After the first 500 they switched to Ats-34 blades and dropped the etch. Its cool the things a guy finds! Is that a handful of a knife? I can never tell from pics, but its either a model 880 or 881. 881 being the smaller of the 2. Congrats!

Thanks for the info Jim. Who would figure these old things would crop up from time to time in a tackle shop. It's big in the hand yes so I doubt it would be the mini? Anyhow I doubt I'll carry it around much but it's nice to have. No it didn't come with a box unfortunately. The blade was sharp except for where the Tanto begins to rise up to the point so I'll see if I can put it to the stone and change that. Appreciate your responses guys. :)
