My eyes have been seduced by the Cammilus Fusk OVB Bowie. I would prefer a "user" model rather than a numbered collecters item, but I cant seem to find one. Is there such model out there?

They make them in limited runs each year and I think they are all numbered.

I think you just have to buy one when they are issued and just use it. :)

I only own one and have to confess that I have not used it, but I do have a few friends that have happily used theirs. From what I have heard they have performed well. I even think I remember reading about get together with Jerry, Dexter, Ethan and Will, maybe his dad and a few others getting together after Blade in N.C. on a camping trip and giving one of Jerry's designs a good run of general light to medium camp tasks and a free hanging cut if I am not mistaken.

Looks like Jim Crowell designed the OVB's this year (at least that is what I saw at Blade). I am due to pick one up and maybe put it to use this year. I would expect them to perform well also. What I handled looked like it was designed for a little heavier duty and the design, fit and finish was impressive to me. I am glad Camilus is continuing this series with the same attention to details as was evident in the Fisk series.

Thanks for the reply. Its a bueatiful knife. Would love to own a user. I'll start checking the for sale forums.

I have a Camillus OVB Fisk Southwest Bowie that I treat as a user. It may have been finished to presentation standards, but it was designed for the real world. The balance is perfectly neutral, which makes it a mediocre chopper that is unbelievably light and quick in the hand. I've never handled a more impressive fighter. The edge geometry and steel make it an excellent cutter.

I've used mine, I like it because it is large and relatively lightweight, compared to other Bowies its size.

I talked to Jerry about this issue, and basically he said that he made these knives to be used HARD.

As an example, he uses the camillus/fisk bowies to do dry-runs of the ABS Cutting competitions. It's a pretty rigorous test.

I have four of the camillus/fisk bowies, but they're safe queens out of choice. :)
