This is the first piece I have completed for the show. It is a 9 1/2" Bowie of 5160H steel. The handle is sheep horn and the fittings are 416 stainless steel. Thanks for looking!

Hey, so you're the scoundrel that took my spot there?!?!?

HaHaHaHaHaHa :D j/k

VERY cool knife Brett! I don't like working sheep-horn, but I sure like it when someone else uses it, AND does it right.

Sweet knife bud,
-Nick-

Outstanding Brett - a real eye catcher both for the sheep horn and the fantastic blade profile - (looks like) a straight spine and bellied cutting edge is a favourite of mine. With the pieces you will be taking and those of Jerry's it will a veritable paradise over there!

Stephen

Brett,

Great job! I like the shape of the blade and the work you did on the handle. Love the sheephorn, any chance you can post a couple more pics showing the rest of the handle?

Dude, that thing rocks! :D Seriously, it's one of my favorite pieces that you've done. It's one of those things that I can't pinpoint, and that's a compliment. I just saw it and said "Yeah man!"

I usually despise sheephorn as it reminds of toenail fungus, but that one is really classy and well done.

Please quit your day job. ;)

Very clean, very nice.

I would also like to know more about the Fisk Invitational. I have not seen this mentioned previously.

I hope that horn is stabilized, if not it is a thousand cracks waiting to happen. What made you roll the dice on such a risky handle material? It is a beautiful blade, BTW.

Best Regards,

It is a type of show that I am doing in my shop. I have not posted anywhere about it till now. I just had it listed on my site.
Basically it is the first 25 guys to sign up that likes knives. There are only three of us makers. What I am trying to do is something a bit different and it is all directed at improving information to people who collect knives while having a bit of fun. This years other two makers are James Cook and Brett Gatlin. The collectors themselves will choose what makers will be here next year from a list. They already have input as to what they want to see while here.
I will be happy to answer any questions reguarding the show that you might have.

I always found it highly amusing that a "down home, aw shucks" forge guy who uses phrases like "coon-finger" has a business mind like a steel trap, and has been one of the few folks to put some serious muscle behind the ABS, completely reinvigorating the organization in the process.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Jerry, I'm not sure if I am the only one having this problem, but the links to James' and Brett's websites that are on your "Shows and Events I will be Attending for the year 2005" page are not working for me. I was able to find their websites.

Great knife Brett.

A straight spine is one of my favorites :). I love the sheep horn. I don't agree with the "risky" comment; I'll buy it IF it doesn't sell ;).

The flow and proportions are perfect. If I had to guess from the photo I would say the blade is 6.5" long, 11" OAL.

Matt

Dang it. I will fix the link thing this evening. Thought I had it.

That about says it! ;)

Nice looking knife Brett.

Brett - that is a beautiful bowie that I am sure will be very much sought-after at the show. Just grorgeous lines.

Jerry - the small invitational is a great idea and I do so wish I could have been there - talk about my kind of weekend!
