I'm looking mighty hard at getting one of these - great looking knife. Might anyone tell me if the clip edge is sharpened? Thanks!

Loki,
The clip edge (false edge) is not sharpened from the factory, but I don't see why it couldn't be.
Are you buying it to chop down some palm trees?
Good Collecting !

Thanks Jocko! No, I afraid the OVB is a wee bit too small. Hacking palm trees is reserved for my HI Khuks - those palms are tougher than they look. ;)

I suspect that, if the factory sharpened the clip, the knife would be inviolation od the laws in several states which forbid the carrying of "double-edged dirks". I know that the Ontario versions of Bill Bagwell's fighting Bowies also come with unsharpened clips, and I have read that same speculation in their regard.

I've owned two Ontario Bagwell Bowies a Gambler and a Hell's Belle.

Both had sharpened "false" edges. However, the wire edge was so thin that is was easily folded over so it appears less sharp. Once the wire edge is removed with a rod the edge is extremely sharp.

May be that only recent issue Ontario Bagwell's are politically correct.
