fiskars 5lb splitting ax

i split about half a cord with it in the last week and the blade looks kind of chewed up. it ate through a lot of knotty stuff. now its time to sharpen it up. i have a couple files, should that do the trick? what angle should i use? i only use it for splitting firewood.
