Alright - I was bored the other night and have a crap load of paracord sitting around the house and decided to give my shaft a little more girth. I love the Fiskars hatchet but have always thought the handle was just a wee bit small for me. I wrapped the entire handle in cord with the inner strands still in and then used gutted cord of a different color to cover the top.

This makes it much more comfortable to handle. Next up is making a makeshift sheat for this so I don't have to use that crappy plastic thing it came with.

Thanks, bro. It was my first time wrapping a handle that length and I'm quite happy the way it turned out. My problem continues to be the start and stop points. Mainly the knots and making them look good. I used a clove hitch to start it off up top which the main reason for using the green cord to cover it up.

Myright, check out this thread over on BushcraftUSA, on using the whipping technique for tool handles. Makes a nice clean wrap with no knots. Just make sure to wrap it real tight. I did the full length of my Fiskars hatchet and the wrap loosened up a bit when I used it cause I didn't do it super tight.

Great job on the wrap.

I love the fiskars and have done many handle wraps in paracord. I use turks head knots. Here is a video tour of the finished wrap:

I've created a video tutorial series if you are interested. Just see additional vids on my tube channel if you want to see how to do it.
