I just ordered a Schatt and Morgan knife and am interested in finding out about the fit and finish? I have been dissapointed by many of the knives I have purchased over the internet. A few days ago I purchased one of the baby barlows from AG Russell and I was not impressed with the knife at all. I had been told it was one of the best slip-joints ever produced and nearly custom quality. The knife had side to side blade play and did not even have a box included, all this for $165. I plan on returning it tomorrow. I would be intersted on hearing opinions on other knives as well, not just S&M?

Thanks,

Check out www.bvbranchknives.com

They have a good selection of slip-joints and the prices are fair.

I spoke with the owner, Barry Billings and asked if he could "look over" my knife before he sends it. He said yes.

I asked him to look for a tightly assembled knife that positively locks with no side-to-side blade wobble and that the blade tip rests inside the handle when closed.

I asked if he would extend the same service to other bladeforums members and he said he would. Give them a call and ask for Barry.

I made a trial order. I should get my knife late next week.

I hope it meets my expectations.

Cheers,
Collecter

Re the Hen&Rooster baby barlow you've described from A.G. Russell...what you are paying a premium for is the rarity of the knife.
