I was thinking of getting an sng, ive heard somethings about fit and finish. Anyone own one and what was it like when u took it out of the box? For 400 bucks im expecting sebenza fit and finish. Are they on par with a sebenza for fit and finish?

your not getting a sebenza when you buy a Strider folder. It wont have the form and sleekness you probably like in the SNG. A sebenza is a mercedes benz G wagon. a Strider is a HUMMER H1. Both will do alot off road. It just depends how you want to ride. The Strider is my preference because I like rugged bad ass looking things that can take a huge beating. The sebenza is a great knife too. If you expect finish like a sebenza you will be disapointed. Build quality on the Strider is 11/10 though. Do you plan on using this knife or will it be a display/ collection knife? What do you want to do with it? are you wearing a suit to work, or a pair of jeans? Some of those questions you need to answer and youll know better which you need :)

I'd say you get Sebenza fit, but not Sebenza finish. It is not meant to be as highly finished as a Sebenza. It will also take some breaking in.

I have both, and they each have their place.

Same here. Two different knives, hollow vs flat grind and that's just a start. As too Strider's Finishing it's a lot better. I got one of the TAD Sng, and this one was finshished with much more attention to some of the little things. I din't even get any Strider thumb.

I too have been debating between the Sebenza and Strider. I've owned both a large and small Classic Sebenza in the past but ended up selling them since I was too afraid of hurting a $350 folder. Now, I'm well past that point and use every knife I own.
On the Strider I've heard of them needing adjustments from the factory from time to time. Is this really the case and what is needed?
In the end I'll probably just buy both and rotate them.

It is more pickiness of the owners than anything. (in most cases)

Most of the time it seems to be blade centering and side-to-side play, both of which are caused by loose pivots. Make sure your pivot is tight and you shouldn't have any issues. (it does take a while to break them in though)

Thanks for the replys. Its just that if im going to spend that kind of money i expect perfection. If its going to a hard use knife and i dont care about fit or finish, id buy a ritter griptilian which come thru with nice quality and can take a beating. When you think about is there anything a strider can do that a ritter griptilian cant? Ive had griptilians before and they just never break. So my point is for 400 bucks i expect perfection. Its funny, after owning a sebenza , you expect alot in that price range. In the hard use user catagory benchmade gets my vote.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha.... :D

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. ;)

I also have both, and as others have said - they each have their place.

Two great knives from two different makers - two different types of knives. Each has their true believers and some, like me, own both and believe in both. I can understand that when someone pays more than they are used to, they expect certain things. If what you are expecting, for the money, is not what you're going to get, then it's not for you.

Well, my Strider SnG drop point arrived today and I have to say that fit and finish is much better than I expected. It certainly has a more hard-use look and feel than the Sebenza. Blade lock-up is perfect. I'll spend the next week cutting up everything I can find to see how the blade geometry and edge works. Certainly a different type of knife over the Sebenza and one I'm not afraid to use, which is strange given that it is more $$ than the large Classic I owned. Once my checking account recovers I'm picking up another large Sebenza and rotate them as my EDC.

My feelings exactly. What is it about these folders that makes them easy to put to hard use vs. the Sebbie which is just as strong, probably? I love 'em both.
