I'm thinking of getting a Cammilus EDC (or two) but wanted to hear some opinions of the knife before buying.
Also, how does the EDC stack up against the Kershaw Vapor? Is the fit & finish on the Vapor better, or about the same?
Thanks for your time.

I can't comment on the Kershaw. However, I think the EDC has improved in fit and finish since they first came out. I have one of early ones and I just got a new one about a month ago. This is a great bang for the buck knife. No doubt.

I would say that the EDC has nicer finish than the Vapor for sure. It is a little more elegant whereas the Vapor is a straight worker. The fit is at least as good. It locks with a very satisfying "snick." And it has GREAT blade-to-handle ratio. The only area in which I think the Vapor trumps the EDC is that I find that the EDC's handle is not suited for people with large hands, whereas the Vapor's design is more accomodating.

It may seem strange to refer you to a thread in a Flashlight forum.......
but at least it's in their Knives/Multi-tools/Watches/Gadgets/Non-flashlight Electronics section -

Camillus EDC vs. Kershaw Vapor Review is up!!!

This was from a couple of years ago - the standard (non-premium) Camillus EDC is now available with an AUS-8 blade which is supposed to be slightly better than the AUS-6A used on the Vapor.

Having said that, I really like the Vapor - it is easily available from one's local WalMart for under $20. The handle of the Vapors are very comfortable - all the corners are nicely rounded and the bead-blast finish feels nice and smooth, whereas although the corners are beveled on the Camillus EDC they just don't look as well finished (I am only going by the current pictures) - although one should go more by Dirk's direct experience as posted above.

I think the normal advice on BF is to
"buy both"?!

I'd get the EDC I think, though the pocket clip is ultra-ugly, tip-down carry, and too big.

Kershaw is a nice knife, but for a few bucks more you can get the EDC in 154CM or AUS8 steel, which is nicer than the Kershaw. 154CM especially.

And it's a framelock, which I prefer to the liner.

I just placed an order for both, the EDC is a birthday gift for my brother and he bought the VaporII. You can bet I'll give them both a good look over when they get here though. If he doesn't like one I'll buy it off him.
It usually takes 2-4 weeks for stuff to get here from the U.S. so it'll be a while before the package gets here. :grumpy:
(I also got a EDC for my mom and a BM 710HS for myself.)
