I have heard people complain about the fit and finish of their ESEE knives. Have you had any similar experiences with this? Also, when I purchase an ESEE how will it be packaged and what will I get?

Never heard of anyone complaining about ESEE fit and finish. As far as what they come packed with, I can only tell you about the Izula. Depending on if you get the knife only or the kit, the knife comes in the sheath packed in a plastic bag. There is nothing fancy about ESEE packaging. They are meant to be tools not paper weights.

Ive never heard of anyone saying anything bad about the ESEE F&F...you might want to check your sources man

the F&F on my ESEE's, izula and RAT pack knife, are amazing for the price. you will not be disappointed if you get one, two, or three of them! and if you dont like it, cant see that happening ;) , you could move it fast.

??????????????
Never heard a fit and finish problem with ESEE. I would describe every knife I've purchased from them as flawless. Usually packaged in a plastic bag. You will get an excellent sheath at the least. Read their website to see what else is included with each knife.

That was my first thought but I want to believe it's not the case. Anyhow, it doesn't hurt ESEE, if anything it helps them because I doubt you'll hear any negative feedback regarding ESEE and Rowen's fit and finish.

Never heard of a single problem with an ESEE's fit and finish. If anything you'll hear glowing accounts of how FLAWLESS the fit and finish are. And if there was somehow anything wrong with it then they guys at ESEE would fix it right up. :)

Fourteen ESEE/Rat knives later, not counting the few which were gifts, and all I can say is you will be hard pressed to find a better made knife.

Thanks to everyone who replied! I wasn't expecting any negative posts on this thread and I am glad I didn't get any. Also, I love ESEE and their products. In fact, I am trying to buy an RC-3 but I have decided to wait and get one with the new logo. I don't want to pay MSRP. Does anyone know where I can get one? Thanks in advance. keep the responses coming!

I also, have NEVER heard a fit and finish complaint on ESEE/Rat Cutlery knives. Ontario RAT series were the ones have lower quality F&F and heat treat problems, hence the lower price point

Well, I guess the right thing to do is to withhold judgement, but it does appear that the OP is specifically targeting ESEE knives and not Ontario's RAT line in his post. Without evidence or sources, he is making a broad statement and throwing ESEE's quality in question.

RAT Cutlery/ESEE knives are well known (at least in my house) for their first-class fit and finish and best-in-industry warranty. I think you will find few arguments to this here.

I have only 3, but they all have excellent F&F. Handles are flush, grinds even, and especially the edge bevels were applied by someone who is highly skilled.

I've owned a few and no problems at all with fit an finish, even grind lines and sharp right out the package, outstanding knives.

I read someones post where they said the fit and finish on ESEE knives wasn't that great, I don't remember where or when but I just assumed they had confused an Ontario RAT for an ESEE knife or were just trying to get them to buy something else. I've never owned an Ontario RAT but people say their F&F isn't that great, I do have an ESEE RC-4 and the F&F is great, no problems at all, and apart from that one person, everything else I've heard has been positive.

As far as how they're packaged and what you get, well it depends on which knife you buy and if you get the added MOLLE back for the sheath which you can get for some models. Mine came with the knife, kydex sheath, MOLLE locks, some paracord and a cord lock, and then I also got the MOLLE back. You have to make sure that if you want the MOLLE back with it, that it says you're getting it because it's optional. This tells you what I got with the RC-4 and explains about the MOLLE back thing.
