How To Fit knives with tapering spines in clamp systems

I have a Spyderco Endura. I can not get it to fit in a clamp type system because the spine continuously tapers from heel to tip. The jaws make contact only for a tiny part of their length-obviously an unworkable situation. Has anyone dealt with this problem successfully?

It is going to be system dependent but... Center the blade and then pinch down hard on the tip end of the clamp (corner facing the tip). And reef down on the clamp screw.

I've done a number of Enduras and Delicas on my KME. If you're still struggling a cloth-based tape like hockey tape should fix things.

Jettison the clamp and just use an Edge Pro. Next you will be telling me the clamps keep you from getting the stone on the blade at a reasonable angle.
