Who has experience and recommendation with the various fitness monitors? I'm considering getting the Fitbit One but, I really lack experience with similar products. I have used pedometers and heart monitors in the past with various levels of satisfaction so, I want to make sure I'm spending my money on a good product that will work for me. I just don't have the time to "dedicate" myself to specific exercise so, I'm doing subtle things like parking far away from the door, taking stairs, etc. but, I really have no idea how much exercise this is really providing so, the Fitbit One seems like a good fit. Are better devices available? Anyone use one and like/dislike it and why?

TIA,
Sid

While I don't use any sort of product like this and rely more on the gym and working out, everything I have heard and read about the One has been very good.

Thanks for the feedback. I used to hike 9 miles about 5 times a week with ~65 pounds in my pack but, work and family commitments don't allow that these days. Trying to track activity levels spread throughout the day in normal non-sedentary activities just isn't feasible for me. I was thinking the Fitbit One might be a good solution for passively monitoring my activity levels throughout the day to ensure I stay somewhat fit.

I use the jawbone UP and love it. Had it for about 3 months now. Connected with friends and we compete to see who does the most activity. I also paired it with the "My fitness Pal" app. The transparency that I have now Into my activity and what I eat has helped me shed 40 lbs in a little over 3 months. Of course I've been going to the gym and riding a bike as well. Good luck with whatever you chose.
