A few months back my business partner and his wife signed up to walk the Kokoda track/trail in Papua New Guinea and has about three months to train for it. I decided to join him on one of his training walks - straight up the west side of Mt. Dandenong.

I thought I was a fit-ish guy until I attempted this. It is a 1156ft. climb over half a mile of rock and boulder, then back onto "normal tracks for a two hour casual stroll down and then back up (no idea how far we walked on this leg), and then back down the 'fire trail' track to the cars.

It was only 26 deg but I drank 3 litres and sweated more.

Here are some pics

Here's the view from the top. It was quite hazy been a couple of fires and general smog from Melbourne. That's Melbourne CBD in the distance.

Pic of some of the tracks and a rather large tree.

Here's a couple feathered friends we spotted, first is a lyrebird, they're pretty amazing they mimic sounds they here and have been known to mimic chainsaws!!
The other is a king parrot.

Great pics, great weather (its snowing here) and one of my favorite blades.

Thanks xmp, the weather has been magnificent lately though working outdoors in 40 deg highs and trying to sleep in 30 deg. lows get tiring. I love both the summer and winter, though the winters here are cool and windy rarly have lows of below 2 deg. and the average high during winter is about 13 deg. not nearly as cold as most of you are experiencing. Yeah I love the Rat7, great large(for my purposes!!) blade, I have to say I still use my leatherman supertool more often than not even though I carry both.

Cheers

Jules
