I am about to finish a couple of damascus blades. I have a mind to put bone or antler handles on them. But I am playing with the idea of using hammered brass or copper as the guard and/or butt cap.
Any preferances out there. Any pitfalls I should be aware of.
I know both metals tarnish but I think they woukd look good.
Comments please.

copper IMHO. It seems to age better than brass. Copper thats handled a lot takes on a soft brown patina that you just can't get from anything else. Doesn't drill or grind real well, kinda grabby. I use a lot of it. My $.02 worth. mike

Copper, no question! I think copper looks really good with Damascus - never been real fond of brass, IMHO.
