A Bonecutter from Purna, at 15" Oh Yeah!

That M43 is a serious deal too, that's not going to last long

I also EMSed on the Purna Bonecutter earlier today, but I think you beat me to it. I guess one of us will get the "Long Gone" or maybe both of us if some shark quietly snapped it up.

The WW2 does not have a full tang, its traditional rat tail. Have to email Yangdu on the rust, pictures don't show the rust.

Thank you for the prompt reply...I’m after a full tang unit. I’ll keep watching for specials and blems in the 15 to 16 inch range.

To be clear and so other new folks will see as well, the WWII is what some consider full tang. The metal goes all through the handle and is peened over on the end with an end cap. Very strong, warrantied against breakage.
Many prefer it as the wood absorbs some of the shock from chops. They don't break.
Also no cold metal on the hand next to the metal tang.

HI don't use rat tails....kangaroo tails are more like it. There's x-ray pics around on the forum somewhere.

Those X-ray photos got flushed by PhotoToilet, but thanks to the magic of the google cache, some can be salvaged:

The two khuks on the left show the usual HI "stick tangs" the full length of the handle. That bar of metal is darn near impossible to break. An exception to the (full-length) rule is on the right side, an uncommon design with a carved handle and a partial tang. The two small knives on the left, with the partial tangs, are a karda (the accessory knife that comes with most khukuris) and an unusual Bilton (most Biltons are made with a full-length stick tang).

[About 5 years ago somebody did a destruction test on an HI khukuri. The blade was locked into a vise and a sledgehammer was used to break the wooden handle, but the stick tang would not break after repeated strikes. The sledgehammer bent the un-heat-treated tang steel into a curved shape, but it did not break.]
