5 inch model 2. This one has a few years on it I believe. The sheath keeper strap had lots of green from the brass hilt so it must have been stored in the sheath. Stored in the sheath:eek:. Grounds for a flogging I believe.

That's a real nice looking 2-5. I've recently become partial to the #2's and was able to purchase a real nice 2-5 with Buffalo horn handle material.

Very nice, Dan. I like #2s with that forward curved hilt. That horn ain't too shabby either. :D

Oh yes, storing a Randall in the sheath is grounds for a flogging. Looks like the knife has survived the experience beautifully, though - not even a carbon spot.

Two beautiful knives. Thanks for sharing, guys.

Very nice piece, Thomason! No earlier than '65 and no later then '72.

Dan: Love that handle!

I picked up an early one on e-bay earlier this year. My guess is late '47 or early '48 (The 2-5 was 1st introduced in the '48 catalog). This one was paired with a CJ Moore sheath. Bo would go to CJ for the 1st of his models before Heiser tooled up for it.

Best,

Ron, that's a nice old Randall you picked up. I saw it on ebay, but alas my funds were too low. Glad you got it. I really like the buffalo horn handles, I'm trying to pick up as many of them as possible. So far I've been out bid on a model 1 and TC Special. Since I just started a new job having the funds in the future should be easier.

Dan,

Great news on the new job! Let's get together for lunch one of these days. I'd like to see your 2-5 in person.

Best,
