top -- 15+ inch, 1.25 pound village style by Kumar. Tough, high quality rig. Everything fine. $75

no 2 -- twin to top except 23 ounces and small superglue crack in handle. $60

no 3 -- perfect 15" 16 ounce Sirupati by Sher. Only thing wrong is grainline in handle that won't go anywhere. $60

no 4 -- 23 ounce BAS by Sher. It's one of the "Yangdu says it's a blem deals." Minor grainline in handle. Good karda and chakma. $60

no 5 -- very, very nice 15 inch 16 ounce Sirupati by Sher. If it didn't have the 1/2 inch superglue fix crack in the handle it would be perfect. $60

Short and sweet because you already know the story of blems and village models.

Call or email and get yourself a fine rig at a good price.

Take all five in the same box for $250 and become a dealer.

Lots of stuff from Sher and Kumar lately....

Is everyone else back in the fields, recovering from illness, or is there stuff just not making it to the Blem Box?

I have a couple of 30 inch kobras I think. Sher and Kumar are both top producers. Kumar generally makes more khukuris than anybody in the shop.

Hmmm. where are all the sharks? Help! I really can't afford another khuk right now!

Any with horn handles?

Those two guys are out of this world. Wouldn't you love to have the knowledge, ability, and the skill to make knives like that. Kind of makes chills run up and down my spine.:) :D

That #2 is a perfect starter khuk for anyone and everyone.

I especilly like the edge profile on #2 and #5.

Those also show so clearly how a kami can make two
great blades in the 'same style' and come up with
blades that look so different from each other.

I'd like to have both of those, but,
I'm waiting to find something that
grabs me by the throat and screams,
"Buy Me "!

Now, there is a thought for somebody. But, just can't beat UB's deals. Tempted, but running out of SECURE storage room.

I have this BEAUTIFUL carved handle Tarwar

Will take some pictures as soon as I can connect with my son, who is going to give me one of his digital cameras. Have to study Penn's Tutorial and practice.

Thank you for taking that khuk!!! I was sitting here, looking at the image, saying to myself: "Meds? Khuk? Meds? Khuk? Meds?...gawd that's a lovely Khuk!!!"

and then you posted!

Thank you so much. I've postponed the dilemma.

So you got the tarwar !!

Explain it to me, dying to see pics

My son reaffirmed again last night about the camera, but his work schedule and living 50 miles away from me, and my being constrained at home taking care of my 86 yr old Mom, don't know when we will be able to connect. Soon, I hope.

I will do my best, Brendan. Brass bolster ins slightly engraved with a maze like design completely around the bolster.

The dark wooden handle has 4 relief? carvings raised above the regular handle surface on each side of the handle.

One side: limb with one leaf on each side, continuing to flower decoration, looks like one group of flowers imposed on top of other set.

Two fish crossed over each other, like you might cross two khukris hanging on wall.

Cog wheel design, maybe looks like a wheel they used to raise and lower draw bridges

Another motif ---like the letter S used in music notes. Long time since I studied music and played the trumpet, coronet and french horn.

OTHER SIDE: Hmmmmmm difficult.
Looks like maybe three urns, vases, pots with different designs.
one looks like it has 3 eyes staring at me, with a big grin, malevolent or benevolent, I'm not quite sure yet. I can see some kind of psych test coming up.

One looks like an old fashioned camping coffee pot with loop eared handles with 3 legs

One looks like a pot bellied stove with casper the ghost sticking his nose out of the top.

The other figure is like a lattice work or one of those wooden puzzles that you try to take apart and put back together again.

Glad the BirGorka Team has a blessing ceremony. Don't know about the 3 eyes and big grin!

Over all handle is a bit dull in finish. Want to brighten it up, but sure don't want to sand or ruin the carvings. All kinds of nicks and crannys to get into on the carvings. Thinking maybe just some tru oil or mineral oil rubbed on with finger and cue tip to get into the small areas. Will have to investigate more before doing anything. But need to get some protection on it, as it is so dry here, very little humidity, very much like Reno.

What can I say about the blade, very sharp, beautiful steel, made by Bura. Need I say more?

Scabbard is well done. The frog confused me for a moment, not ever having a sword before. Makes sense blade being 21 in long with an 8 inch handle OAL 29 inch that the frog is designed to wear on a belt or strap horizontally, as opposed to vertically as on the regular frog. Hope I said that correctly. Although the weight of thw Tarwar would pull on your belt but would think a shoulder strap would be the normal way to carry. Will have to research that area some more.
