Fix for a slipping liner lock?

I have a Masters of Defense Trident whose liner lock slips off and disengages really easily. All it takes is a little thumb pressure on the spine to get it to close.

If I whip it open really hard, it'll hold for that time but then go back to the way it was during regular openings.

I've tried sitting in front of the TV repeatedly whipping open the blade for like 100 times, to no effect.

I've cleaned and dried the ramp and bar really well, still to no effect.

I have not taken it apart.

Any ideas?

FOL, try opening the knife really hard like you described, so the lock is holding, find something like a piece of cardboard of something like that to hold the liner in place and give the blade a good spine whack.(**please protect your hands!!**) In the past I have found this to "seat" the liner and will allow it to engage better than before. Hope this helps. *please note, protect your hands.*

That sounds like an idea worth trying. I'll keep my fingers out of the way!

I'll let you know how it works.

First.....
Slamming your knife open is likely to give you stop pin deformation and more blade play.
Second....
Spine whacking is the best way to make your liner lock prematurely fail.

If you are competent enough, the fix for this is to slightly bend the liner inward to give it more engagement.

Neither worked.

But for the benefit of future readers of this thread, what DID work is this:

Both lock surfaces had obviously been hardened and polished to a sheen. I took a piece of emery paper and roughened both lock surfaces - not enough to change the angle, but just enough to break the surface and remove the polish.
