I have a few black blade Kershaw and ZT knives. Occasionally I'll get a silver streak on them, usually by accidentally scraping against metal. Any suggestions for hiding the scratch?

You can usually clean off the scratch using soap and water and a non-scratch sponge. As far as recoating - I'm looking into the Ceracoating services offered by Jeff4BushWeaponRefinishing.

why not just let it go? to me, a scratched up, worn and faded black blade is like a natural patina on an old carbon steel blade, as it ages... it gets nicer and nicer

you use this

A touchup pen for black firearms coatings. Its not very durable but it doesn't stand out and will cover up scratches pretty well. The only thing it hasn't worked great on has been blackening the screw heads on my para2, as it rubbed off most places after a few days of use and carry.

Scratch the rest of the knife up.

That way, finding that one scratch you made will be like finding a needle in a needlestack, and you'll soon cease to worry about it.

I ended up using a sharpie and then letting it set, rubbed it on cloth to buff it a little, then using alcohol to remove the excess shinyness. Eventually it'll show but by then I'll have other scratches and wear marks. This was an accidental and stupid mistake.

If you actually use your knife you will be scratches on the blade coating. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with a scratch on your knife. Just like there's nothing wrong with a scratch on your crescent wrench.

Scratch on my Crescent wrench?? how could you even allude to such a thing?:D

+1 on your post- A user will have scratches, that's what gives it character...in my humble opinion, of course.

If it is a DLC coating then you probably have not scratched it, rather the blade coating has scratched something. It can be rubbed off, leaving the black coating behind it.
