Guys I’m looking to buy a new fixed angle sharpener. I have the least expensive work sharp model and it works great for pocket knives with normal blade shapes. Buck 110 Delica and Bugout. Problem is I can’t sharpen civilian or hawkbill shape knives. Does anyone make a fixed angle sharpener that has round diamond stones to sharpen these types of knives. I may try a sharp maker or practice with a belt sander if that’s my only choice but would prefer a fixed angle system. Thank you for your help.

You can use flat stones on a fixed angle sharpener to sharpen a hawkbill, just be careful not to put too much pressure or you can gouge the edges of the stones. It'll wear the corners of the stone more than the center, but uneven wear is inevitable no matter what you do and you'll have to level the stones eventually. I recall Edgepro selling half-width stones specifically for knives with recurves or hawkbills, where you might need to get into tight corners. This wouldn't work with diamond sharpeners, though, since it's just one thin layer of diamond abrasives. And obviously this won't work for serrations.

I would suggest a system that can use narrow stones. Those should work with any of the hawkbill or recurved blades. As pointed out above there are challenges with diamond stones unless you are using something like D Diemaker 's curved strops, if they will even work for it. He would have more info on that. A honing rod or the sharp maker triangle stone would deal with the serrations.

Most of the systems that support narrow stones are likely to be edgepro format. But that is not exclusive to edgepro since I belive that some of the others accept those stone formats.
