OK guys, a search for 110's in the old swimming hole will reveal a damascus 110 blade with a fixed handle. This is the third one of these that I have seen lately; however, the other two were not damascus. But it really baffles me why anyone would want to do such a modification, other than perhaps just to have something different. Am I missing something here??

I've seen pics of a couple, in the year or two I've been here...baffles me why, too...Buck feasibility study, maybe???

I may well be wrong, but: It appears as tho someone took a piece of Damascus steel, and made a fixed blade knife with a blade shape just like a 110. He then put some scales on it and now has a Dam Steel fixed blade that has no relationship to a Buck 110 other than a blade shape. Its not even a red headed step child, its a total stranger. Not necessarily a bad idea, picture a bit smaller version of the 119 complete with black phoenolic handle et al. I'd probably buy one.

Yep, when I go back and read the listing description, that is correct; it is not actually a 110 blade. However, there are some other similiar modifications out there like this that do actually use 110 blades

fixed blade 110... yes they exist
i have heard of them a number of times
but dont have one and i have not seen one
this was a mod that employees in dago asked for
why - some thing diff ...

The guy that did my two damascus blades for installation in 110 frames does what he calls a fixed blade. I'm assuming this is what T.S. is speaking of.

I think Decaf is correct, a fixed 110 is just something different. It is a classic profile. It also seems with reason that anyone that likes a Gen-5 would/should/could be open to a fixed 110.

Grands damascus patterns are really good and I've suggested the BCCI work on getting some bar stock of his for a club knife. Which by the way, got positive nods for the club decision makers.

Anyway, I may just handle up one of those unfinished 110 for, as Dave said, something different.

Flat, any further word on that project; I'm eagerly waiting, checkbook in hand!! :)

I haven't followed up. Should we start a petition to for this. I know, an amber picked bone 307 with Leavitt damascus. That should get everyone attention. Well, let me check back again.
