Hi all,

I've become obsessed with the discontinued line of CRK Aviator and Shadow's in 4". I'm sad to say they are discontinued because they are dam hard to find! I hit myself for passing up on one during the Pasadena, CA knife show! Above all, if you have one of the particular CRK fixed blade please tell me about it! I want one dammit.

I have a Mountaineer II and love it. :p :D

There's a new condition, Shadow III on eBay right now. Have fun and place a bid!

I went through a dealer a month or so ago that had Mountaineers and Shadows in 4" and 5.5". I bought one of the Shadows to join my Mountaineer. I also am particularly fond of the 4" blades.

If your patient, you will find one. They seem to go in spirts. Some weeks you see NO OPR, other weeks, they seem to be everywhere. I had 17 OPR at one time, but traded or sold a few away that I did not like or ever intended to use. Too many safe queens, I should just use them all, scuff them up and enjoy them. But with work and all and living in the burbs close to town, I am unable to venture into the great outdoors where some of them would be more suited. I do carry CRK all through hunting season which is upcoming.
The Shadow Line of the OPR is my favorite. I recently acquired the long sought after shadow II completing my quest for all 4 shadow knives.

I also like the sawtooth back versions. I recently traded my 4" aviator. I still have the 9" jereboam I sawback and have the 28th anniversary CRK. I always wanted the 5.5" version, but it has always eluded me. Funds are much tighter now, so my buying has slowed to almost a crawl. I have since resorted to trading to get what I want.

Here is a pic of my Shadow Family. Enjoy !!

Interesting. I have three and the caps are all timed about like the one on the bottom. I guess there is some randomness to this, though? Love that hex cap!!!

I have a single guard Shadow III that I picked up before they were discontinued and I am glad I did.

For extended use I choose other knives because after a while the short and round handle gets a little tiring, but with some small survival items stowed in the handle and a slender kydex sheath, it is perfect to stow in a bag or for day hiking where I am not cutting much.

Man, gosh does anyone EDC a CRK 4" fixed blade? I want one dammit.

The shadow III was my first CRK. I liked it so much I bought another down the road as a backup just incase something happened to the other one. I love the pancake sheath. Both the shadow and aviator have the pancake sheath, while the mountaineer and tanto III have more of a traditional style sheath. I edc the shadow III all through huunting season and use it for everything.

My preferences are, in order, Mountaineer, Shadow, Aviator. The preference is driven by the spine. I prefer the single guard to the double, and I don't like the sawback spine at all - sorry. :D I know that the Aviator is "cooler" - I'm ok with that. ;)

If you thought they were hard to find then........ You see them often on eBay, but at $500, that's kinda rediculas. The value will only go up though, so someday we might be happy to see one for $500. I had an aviator and traded it towards an xm-18. I definitely regret it. I have 2 shadow III double guard and a shadow III single guard. My first CRK, a double guard shadow III is still my favorite and carry it every hunting season around the camp.

My guess is that at this point the prices are rising faster than you're willing to increase the price you'll pay for these.

Just to let you all know, I'm still in search of the Aviator or Shadow 4" fixed blades!

Just to let you know, there is a Shadow on eBay right now. Man up and click Buy It Now before they go up in price even more. :D
