Does anyone have any ideas on this very old custom fixed blade with a maker's mark that has a K in it? Age, bone joint identification, style of affixing the blade to the bone? The overall length is 8-1/4".

you need a close up picture of the tang stamp.

The knife does not look particularly old to me, and it is in a fur trade / frontier style which I believe really became popular in the 70's when the muzzle loader / mountain man hobby blew up after the movie Jeremiah Johnson came out.
Now there are lots of blacksmiths around the world but especially in the US that make primitive front style knives.
I don't know what bone this would be ( it's likely from a deer), and I couldn't really say how it's attached.
It has a very primitive/ traditional sinew and rawhide wrapping, but that doesn't appear to be actually affixing the blade to the handle like you'd see with a spear or knapped stone blade knife.
The blade tang could have a pin going through it that is under the wrapping , or it could just be glued in.

Weird. I posted three different pics, including a close up of the tang stamp, but now that I click, it's all the same photo! I'll try again tomorrow,
