het guys im new to the forum i joined becuase im looking for a new fixed blade knife and i want to make the right decision so i have come up with a few choices i hope you experienced guys can help me make a decision with-

- gerber LMF2
- fallkniven A1 or F!
- crkt ultima 2
- gerber freeman stag s30v

ill be using the knife for mostly work around the camp and on some treks and hunting trips, needless to say i want one that will take abuse like no other
thanks alot just throw some other suggestions out there if you have any that are in this price range

Of the choices you are looking at, the Fallknivens are by far the best knives to look at. They are superb knives.
Also you might look at some of the Bark River Knife and tool selections. They have some great choices for your intended tasks. The Bravo 1 comes to mind as a great choice. Good luck and happy hunting!:D

Another vote for Bark River. Check out the Bravo-1 , the Fox River, and my favorite for your uses, the Canadian Special.

Best places to see them are here and here.

Defiantly the A1. It will take a lot of abuse. It's a great cutter and small but effective chopper for camp tasks. The A1 is one of the most functional and toughest knives I have used in it's size range.

I would have recommended you look at Bark River or Ranger, but Grampa and KLJTech beat me to it:D

Of those listed, I would pick the Fallkniven. Either the F1 or S1.

But if I could choose from anything, it would be Bark River. Others have stated the Bravo-1, Fox River and Candian Special, which are all excellent choices.

thanks alot guys for the help ive limited my choices to probably the fallkniven the gerber and im looking at the bark river and ranger

Of the knives you listed the fallkniven is the best chioce but I might also suggest the cold steel recon scout or the cold steel srk. Also the Rat 7 or the Tac by ontario are good choices also. The cold steels and the Rat knives are very good and much cheaper than the fallkniven.

don't know if this is up your alley but you ought to go to ragweed forge and look at some of the knives there, exc for field work and exc bang for the buck. of what you listed the fallkniven hands down is the best. if you don't want to spend that much but still want a good blade try the buck nighthawk or the buck 119. you don't have to spend big bucks to get a good blade. ontario rats are also a very good value.

Another vote for Bark River. Check out the Bravo-1 ,

Another vote here for the Bravo 1.

Here are some of my go to knives for outdoors work and fun. In case you didn't notice. I am not a gifted photographer.

Honestly I say to stick with cold steel they have the sharpest edges take sharper resharpenings than most and hold it for a long time and are impossible to break. if you have a limited budget i have the kukri machete and it is the best knife ive owned takes serious abuse and the design of the blade gives it serious cutting power. to get an idea picture what would happen to a tree if you hit it with a 36" katana x5. only thing is thier kukri machetes need a slight touch up sharpening out of the box this is best done on a slot type sharpener given the shape oh and p.s. its not actually a machete its just marketed under that name its a kukri a blade style used by ghurka warriors of nepal makes a fierce weapon and a great outdoor tool for chopping trees etc. ok. im finished with my rant and rave. p.s. if youre considering this blade go t www.eknifeworks.com for a realy good price they sell it cheaper than the manufacturer

Fällkniven is in a class of its own, compared to the others.

Bark River as so many have suggested already.

Why not a RAT3? Sturdy and inexpensive too, the one I have with Ram's Horn scales is a user!

I havent used any of those on the list, but have been eyeing the Gerber. That is one sweet knife!
