Does anyone know if fixed blade carry in Kansas is legal? The law reads any ordinary pocket knife with a blade of 4" or less, but it makes no reference to fixed blades, only to "daggers" and "dirks."

Trouble is, while you and I know what "daggers" and "dirks" are, police and courts have this annoying habit of translating this as any fixed blade knife. Note the law also says "dangerous knife" whatever in blazes that's supposed to mean. So, we'll have to default to case law.

Here you go:

It would appear that fixed blades cannot be carried concealed. However it is possible they are legal to carry openly and with lawful purpose.

Disclaimer: I am neither lawyer nor LEO, just a bloke who can scrounge up and read law.

Interestingly, I called the local Police department and the officer told me as long as the blade was 4" or less, then it is legal to carry.
