Now that I have a Sebenza, I am thinking about a fixed blade. I mainly want a general purpose hunting/camp knife. The big knives look great but in all honesty they are probably too big for general use (not a survival knife). How about the sables vs. Mtn?

Both are good and have a single guard. Sable's high grinds make it an excellent slicer. My favorite of the two.

De ja vu? didnt I respond to this already? If not ,I can

Okay, I have to admit I'm biased, since I really like sawback knives, but I'd recommend the Aviator. As far a sawbacks go it's a lot more functional than most, plus it's a great size for everyday carry 4" blade. If you have large hands like I do the handle does feel a tad small but not much. Overall a great little utility knife. It's also one of the cheapest CRK fixed blades.

The Sable is one of my favorite CRK fixed blades. If you can find a Sable III it is a great little fixed blade that can probable handle most camp chores and is quite compact.

I too like the Sable (5.5") but have been contemplating a Ubejane for quite some time. Just got a Neil Roberts "Warrior" and really like it too. Really can't hardly go wrong with any of them. Pick the blade style you like the most. My son has a Shadow III and likes it alot but the smaller fixed blades are much too small for my hands. If you have the large Sebbie my thoughts are the smaller fixed blades really aren't much more than you would already have in your pocket.

Just my $.02 worth. ;)

The CR Aviator is not only a great knife but one of the neatest small fixed blades I own.I vote for the Aviator!

My choice was a Shadow IV for a backpacking knife for many years, now I carry a GB 7" (a better chopper, handle ergonomics & stainless) I love (and see the need/use for) all CRK handle designs but I particulary love CRK spear points. The sabre grind is great for "backpacking" camp chores (spritting wood, digging catholes), when you want one knife to do many different tasks and has CRK has the best sabre grinds in the industry. Just my .02, hope it helps

I would get a OPSAC! well I hope I will anyway. Really any of the small CRK fixed blades up to the Shadow IV are great! I really like the GB also.Heres a pic of an Aviator.
