In the past I`ve done a few fixed blade folder patterns, a Buck 110, Sodbuster, and Texas Toothpick. I`m thinking of doing this again, this time a saddleback pattern. Any other patterns that you think would make a good fixed blade? Pictures would help.

An Opinel design with its yataghan style blade and slight forward cant.

Not sure if this is what Zidfeldts is referring to, but I think the Case Backpocket knife as designed by Tony Bose is a really handy shape. Calls it a California clip blade, fairly thin and long. 4 1/2" handle and 3 1/2" clip blade, I like the angle of the blade relative to the handle when using it. Sorry I can't do pics on my phone.

My favorite. A Schrade 125OT.

I have a few older pics of the case Back pocket:

What is the status of this now? Have you decided on a pattern? I also think a fixed blade version of the back pocket would be awesome, like a clipped bird and trout version or handy utility knife. Really like that clip and jigged bone handle. Is there a way jig Osage orange or some other wood, or even micarta?

Jigging wood would be easywith a dremel and small round bit.
tedious but easy enough as long as youhave working hands.;)

All sound good, how about a sowbelly?
