I have a friend who's son is going to Irag. She's looking for my advice on a fix blade to buy him. I'm looking for your advice on what to get him. Especially from our members who have been there. He's Army Airborne. My guess would be a 5 - 6 inch blade, as light as possible, and tough. She's not rich so I would guess 50 - 75 dollar range. If she can't afford it, I'll help out with the cost. I was thinking something like a BK & T knife or something in a tanto blade. I gave her a CRKT M1 (partially serrated) and he loves it, matter of fact I had to give three other guys in his unit the different websites were they might get them. I have over 60 knives and donating a few to our brave men and women just seems like the right thing to do. God Bless the Troops and may they return safely and quickly.

Thanks

Randy

how about a cold steel kobun

Benchmade CSK in D2 steel, without question, about 70-80 bucks and worth every dime. Check it out on New Graham's site. Wish him luck for us.

Here's a second on the Becker. The Crewman would be a nice sturdy knife and is a great value.

Ranger Ranger Ranger!!!! Just curious is he up in alaska? RD6 or brigade quartermasters has the RAK for like 60-70 bucks!!!

Thanks for the replies. Read the thread that Andrew Taylor recommended and it sounds like fixed blades and large folders are frowned on. He's got the CRKT M1 at 3.25" and his First Sergeant is looking to get one. He might be able to take that. I'll recommend to his mom, to get a good multi-tool.

Thanks guys
