Hello all. I decided to do some chopping yesterday with my Fitzen Frankenstein, and my hands got majoryl ripped up by the paracord handle.

Now here's my question. Does anyone know of sleeves for handles of fixed blades that are grippy, but don't require gloves while chopping???

Thanks for your time.

Yep. Here's what you do. Take off the paracord, put it in your pocket, and put micarta, wood, or bone scales on the knife.

Then you can actually use it!

Sell the Fitzen and buy a Res-C handled Busse kin your hands will thank you.

Two questions now. One, will grip tape adhere nicely to the paracord??? And two, how much do Res-C handled Busse's go for???

like others have said, try cutting a piece of bicycle innertube and sliding it over the cord wrap. the rubber is grippy and gives when you move instead of rubbing your skin raw.

I believe it will. I wrap grip tape on my chinese no name chopper that I use to cut deadwood branches on the farm. It even cuts down on blisters when you do a lot of work. Just check out the "how to wrap grip tape on your raquet videos" to get an idea on how to do it.

If one is going to wrap paracord in grip tape...why even bother with the paracord in the first place? Even without the grip tape, the only purpose it seems to serve is to rip up your hands!

Covered in grip tape, it seems even more pointless.

And not to open up a can of worms....but many feel that "grippy" is horrible for a chopper. Many feel that chopping with a grippy handle surface like inner tube is even MORE blistering than paracord.

So is the concensus that it would be wisest to get it re-handled??? If so, who is a good person to go to for this???

How about the guy who made this chopper? If you find it unusable, I would think he would want to make it right for you.

or you could try plasti dip.

its basically a thick rubber like liquid used for rehandling pliers and other tools. i think its about $10 for a can.

it even comes in different colors, and if you hate it you can pretty easily peel off the coating.
