Fixed blade knife opinions

I am considering my next purchase and would like opinions on a couple of makers as I am fairly new to custom knives. I would like to purchase a nice quality fixed blade knife with a 3-4 inch blade, overall length of about 8-9 inches with a traditional profile suitable for camping/hiking and with either ivory or stag scales. The steel can be high carbon or stainless, forged or stock removal. The knife would see light use in my rotation but I take care of my gear so they would not be abused. My budget is 3-400 dollars out the door. My last purchase was a semi skinner by Forthofer with mammoth ivory scales. It is a very well made knife and the maker seems like a very decent person. I also have a Randall number 1 with stacked leather handle and and a small number 5 with stag scales. I have seen some interesting hunter models for sale by WD Pease, Joel Chamblin and Don Lozier. Would anyone care to comment about their experiences with these makers, the relative quality of their knives, craftmanship, demand for their knives, customer service etc. Thank you in advance for your help.
