Fixed blade knife with tools - where?

:confused:Has anyone ever seen a fixed blade knife that has other tools built into the handle? I am referring to tools like a SAK would have.

If the fixed blade were short enough and had a sheath/guard covering to prevent the blade from getting in the way when using the other tools, I think this would be a great combination.

Does anyone have any suggestions for such a knife or know someone who might try to create one?

Thanks,

Brett

There was one survival type blade, 15 or 20 years ago, that had a phillips head and slot head screwdrivers on the the ends of the guard.
Buckmaster?

that would be interesting if it could be full tang but the handle would have to be pretty thick in order to fit other tools there...and one would have to be careful with blades on both sides...if it looks reasonable and is tough i would get one...post pics if u have something related...

I believe CRK makes a one-piece with tools in the handle. Not sure of the model.

There were some German knives in a somewhat recent thread that had 2 or 3 tools in the handle. One of them was a saw. I can't remember the brand offhand though.

Don't know if this counts, but some of the most valuable (and rare) Scagel knives are fixed blades with a folding blade built into the handle.

If you start with a full tang drop point, incorporate various liners folding from the butt of the handle into an ergonomic design, this could be answer to everyone's which fixed blade question. A fingergrooved grip would allow various attachment opening points. On the other hand, you might consider two tools.

Here's a picture of a new reproduction of one.

Not my pic (or knife), found it online.

I did find a couple of creations:

1) Chris Reeve's NKonka
Link to the knife on their site: http://www.chrisreeve.com/nkonka.htm

Description: "No other knife has a full size screwdriver kit conveniently encased in the handle ….an original and typically well though out idea from Chris Reeve."

2) Savage Arms' HUNTERS EDGE FIXED BLADE KNIFE

Both of these are unique but still don't "float my boat". I'm more so interested in a creation that
covers the blade's edge so it can't harm you when using an implement.

:DThanks for all of the inputs so far! Please keep them coming.

The search continues ...

With both of those that you just posted, it would be extremely easy to fab up whatever you wanted to work with them. All you really need is the knife to tool interface, and both of those knives have them..

Leatherman makes some knives with built-in tools. Too lazy to fnd links. Just search. They are really good knives from what I've heard.

Moved due to request from woodgood.

Ths schrade survival extreme BT01 "bomb tech 01" has a hammer and nail puller on the handle.

I think the original First Blood/Rambo knife had a flat/phillips driver at the end of each guard.

thx - cpr

the german miliary issued during ww2 a combat knife with tools in the handle for machine gun crews..

untill recently there was still several firms in germany making hunting knives with tools in the grip.. , i think maybe one or two frims still produce them ,

mikov makes several .

during the soviet union a hunting knife was produced with a detachable handle with gun tools in it much like the german ww2 knife..

there has proably been others , but it seems to me to be largely a german attraction. /

Carrying some tools in the handle seems okay, but attaching them directly sounds like a good way to stab yourself with the fixed blade.
