I was wondering if the coating gets scuffed up from using kydex sheaths with the 1 piece knives. My dad has a CRK fixed blade and I was thinking about getting him a sheath someday but I don't want it to destroy the finish on the knife. Anyone have experience with the kydex systems out there? I was thinking about getting a rig from survivalsheaths.com for him. Thanks!

Contact PiterM, a member of Bladeforums. He makes the finest kydex sheaths for CRK knives IMO. I've never had the kydex wear on a CRK badly enough to warrant a return to get recoated. I did have one instance where I got some silt in there. It scratched up the knife pretty good. A good leather sheath will do the same thing. General usage shouldn't be a problem.

I've used Kydex for many kinds of knives and never had too much of a problem. You'll get some rubs, but that should be it. Not enough to ruin the finish.

Thanks guys! He is a big CRK guy and loves this knife and the Sebenza he has. If I can't get a hold of one from the place I get from I'll contact PiterM - thanks for the tip!

Survivalsheath makes excellent sheaths, no worry!

Also just be sure to wipe down the blade before sheathing, that solves the problem. AND in case of Chris' knives you're in a very comfortable position as you can send a knife for refinishing any time. And what you get is a brand-new condition of the knife & coating. And the cost is more than fair, just check at CRK website. So no worry.

PiterM's sheaths ARE fantastic!! There are some excellent Kydex sheath makers out there. I own several different kydex sheaths. But, I LOVE PiterM's "AURIGA" sheath is the best!! I have one for my Shadow III, and in the front pouch, I keep my Large Sebbie in it. I LOVE that. I love the fact that it is modular. Anyway....Good luck with chooosing a sheath.
