Fixed Blade laws

Anybody know fer sure what the Minnesota fixed blade knife laws are? I have been given different answers by 2 very reliable scources. One says that any fixed blade is illegal to carry unless one is hunting or fishing. Another says sub 4" is okay. I really have a soft spot for smaller fixed blades and would carry one openly if not for my concerns about getting hassled by the law enforcement community.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Section 46.02 Texas penal code:

(6) "Illegal knife" means a:

(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;

(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;

(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;

(D) bowie knife;

(E) sword; or

(F) spear.

(7) "Knife" means any bladed hand instrument that is capable of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by cutting or stabbing a person with the instrument.

I should add: The law doesn't differentiate between concealed or visible. Though I can tell you that if you are wandering around in a public place, with a sheathed 5 1/2 fixed blade dangling off your belt , there is a chance you will play "meet the Po-lice".

It's probably been said before but...

I think it's weird that Texas outlawed carrying a Bowie knife (after that whole thing at the Alamo). I know, criminals prefer unarmed victims, beaurecrats prefer unarmed peasants. Even now the law more or less reads "the Legislature shall regulate carrying weapons [concealed handguns] with an eye toward preventing crime", nevermind that the criminals (and the police) can carry anything they want!

(grumbling) Maybe I'll just wear an Astros jersey and carry a baseball bat...

Nawww, I'll keep my SAK Soldier and 4" SwAK with me for now.
