On a fixed-blade knife, bushcraft "Woodlore" for example, what purpose do the liners serve? Or are they just for aesthetics?
I seem to recall reading that some type of wooden scales (Oak, I think it was) that are affected if they come into direct contact with metal. If this is so, the liners would serve a valuable purpose.
