I've been carrying folders since I was a kid, but fixed blades have just recently appealed to me. I live in Madison, Wisconsin, so I can open carry a knife with any blade length. Your legally allowed to carry huge knifes, such as a 12" inch bowie, or even a full-sized katana. I've checked with the local municipalities about knife length and there are hardly any restrictions throughout Dane county.

I'm looking for a durable, fixed blade, with about a 6-7 inch bowile or tanto style blade, that holds an edge decently. My budget is $100-$150. So far i've liked the SOG tech bowie, with the black coating, but I've heard rumors that SOG's quality is dimishiming.

Any Recommendations?
Does anybody own the SOG bowie? What do you think of it?

Hmmmm..... think ya posted in the wrong sub-forum...... this should go in the general or maybe practical tactical areas. To answer your question though, SOG isn't bad but you might look at RAT cutlery knives for overall usefulness and they would certainly work for defense if needed...... they fall within your price range too.
