Fixed blade sheath question

tongueriver tongueriver I've been thinking about your question since yesterday. I had never given it much serious thought before. As I joked, I think both were simultaneously available for awhile with no specific yesterday/today type cutoff. The catalogs are no help and the first time I see both pictured is in a 1984 catalog. There was a progression, I think we first see non "flap-over" sheaths in the mid 1970's as the "swivel sheath" on the models 119 and 120. About 1980/1981 is the appearance of the flat sewn sheath for a short while then after that the current Snoopy style folded sheath. That said, I think both were available thru the 1980's. The single "BUCK snap changes to the "3-BUCK" snap about 1989. I'm wondering If I could find a 3-BUCK flap-over in my collection.

Addendum, I think Snoopy would take affront at being called "hideous" 🤣

Addendum 2, I found a reference by TAH TAH that the swivel sheath appears about 1977.

Thanks for some very good analysis; I appreciate that. Actually, I think "hideous" does the abomination a kindness. I am not only referring to aesthetics here, but function as well. Just me, of course.
