Fixed-blade similar to BM Mini-Grip? Cheaper alternative to Street Beat?

I'm vaguely in the market for a 2.5"-3.5" fixed bladed utility knife. Just something cool to have around the house, and to put on my deuce gear if I get called back up.

I see that BM brought out a fixed Griptilian, but I was hoping for something smaller. The Spyderco/Perrin Street Beat is most cool, but $160 is a little spendy for a knife I don't have plans to EDC currently.

If there were a fixed-blade Mini-Grip, I'd buy that, but there isn't.

Any similar knife I'm overlooking, under $75? Preference for overall small, not just fat and stubby. I especially like any single-finger groove to substitute for lack of crossguard, etc.

Thanks for any info, -MV

Knifeoutlet.com had a nice Blackjack Small or Short for around $20-25, zytel handle, dimensions you want, AUS10 steel, good stuff.

Did some hunting, found a few more options:

Benchmade has the fixed Snody and Opportunist for around $50.

CRKT has the CRKT Stiff K.I.S.S. for around $25.

Both of those seem like neat little utility knifes. Will take some thinking.

My preferences are:
BM210TK Snody Activator $100 + (just ordered GP Knives LAST one last night:D :D )
BM211 Snody Activator $70
Bark River Mini-Skinner $100-$115
Bark River Mini-Canadian $80-$100 (hard to find right now)
Bark River Mini-North Star $100-$115
BM220 Snody Fixed Resistor $80-$100
BM14100 H&K Snody $60-$80

All have a blade length varying between 2-1/8" (Snody Activator) and 3-1/2" (Snody H&K 14100)

Can you tell I'm partial to Snody's knives and designs? :)

Also, last time I looked, the OPPORTUNIST is NOT a fixed blade.

Look for them at BarkRiverKnifeandTool.com, NewGraham, GPKnives, Savsonswordsandknives, Knifeworks, and Knifecenter, et al
