Just wondering what fixed blades are comparable to the izula, I'm looking for a small fixed blade that has kydex sheath and belt clip. Just want to try fixed blades for a change, something for EDC use, consisting mostly of garbage and recyclable duties. Cutting rope that I use to tie cardboard and paper into a bundle, breaking down cardboard, but also something to bring hiking and camping as a backup to my DPX HEFT 4.

I've looked at the dpx hest but want to change it up. I'm not familiar with tops but they seem to have options. Looking to spend around $80 or less. 1095 is fine, not picky, if there's anythiygh that's comfortable for long periods of time that would be great too.

I would take a long hard look at the Cold Steel Mini Pendleton Hunter in 3V. It has, yes, 3V steel and has everything else you mentioned. The sheath even comes apart so you can put it on your gear, carry it around your neck, or in your pocket, or where ever you wish. It is a nice knife.

The standard Pendleton Hunter is a bit larger, but still a small knife, so that is another option.

The benchmark backpacker is a pretty good knife for 10$, and while it's not gonna be as high quality as your izula it still worth checking out for the price. I have 2 and the first served me well every single day for over a year before I went a little overboard on modding it. On The second one I simply did 1" of jimping on the spine and hand peened aluminum pins.

Lots of swamp rat wardens in the exchange. But there is one knife like the izula...

...THE IZULA!

Black Jack makes a neck knife that is similar. Its available in leather or kydex sheaths and the sheath has a magnet in it to aid in retention while inverted. pretty neat feature.

Different style, Benchmade HK Plan D: under $80, plastic sheath with belt-clip

White River Backpacker and Caper are a bit pricier but come with low profile kydex sheath and a detachable belt-loop

The Buck 143 PakLite is quite inexpensive but the sheath is not quite what you asked for, though you could make or order one and still be below the price of an izula

The bottom knife above is the GSO-2.7 which is well over your price range but a good choice if you want to use the knife for heavy cutting, as the contoured scales are MUCH better than the thin ones for the Izula or a cord-wrap.

You could also check the maker's "for sale" area to find an EDC with what you want, the far right knife in this pic is from Tim Johnson of Blackstone K&T, "timos-" here on BF:

ANZA makes a bunch of models that compare to the Izula, though they don't come with kydex sheaths, again you'd need to make or order one. This is one example:

The LT Wright Patriot can be ordered along with a kydex sheath:

Boker offers a bunch of models in this size range as well, probably at least a few meeting your specifications.

You might also consider the Enzo Necker with a custom sheath (not my pic):

You won't get any closer to the izula then the BK14.

This.

You'll have to figure out either a new sheath, or something else to get the clip that you're wanting. But the rest of the knife is close as can be.

Why is that you say? Its because the BK14 sports the same handle with the izula. It is a collaboration knife. Its just got a longer blade on it than the izula. They also sell zytel scales for the BK14 (~$15), or you can use the ones for the izula with a bit of modding (slight tolerance differences need to be sanded down from what I understand).

Now, I have no idea if it will meet your needs or not. But, in terms of things that are similar, its pretty close.

Good luck finding something that works for you :).

just looking for further opinions, would you say the esee candiru is too small? Would you say the esee 3 or Rat 3 are too large for EDC?

For me, I don't want to really notice it. I don't want it to be pressing into my side or hip, I don't want it to be pulling down on my belt because of how heavy it is. It would be used for General EDC. Nothing extreme.

So opinions on:
-esee 3/Rat 3 (quality differences?)
-esee izula/izula 2
-esee candiru

Swamp warden
Back -11 or 14
Bark river bravo 1 or 2
Falkniven wm1
Randall triathlete is also a dandy

I'm guessing you had some auto correct issues. Is that supposed to be Becker 11 or 14? And if you are suggesting a bravo 1 or 2, they are much larger than OP is looking for. The bravo edc would be a good option, though a bit pricey. Good suggestions.
