I was in a local sporting goods store last week and saw a black Buck Maverik fixed blade for $22, looked it over and noted the USA stamp on the blade and thought it a nice little knife for the money. Went back to get one and they were out and the guy argued with me about the USA stamp, said it was China made. Wrong. So I did some searching and found the [big box store] white handle exclusive version still available on their website for $17.60 and another one popped up called the El Morro, another exclusive, for $16.10...both USA made are you kidding me? I ordered one of each and something else for $2.50 to make $35 and got free shipping! Came today and I'm really liking this little El Morro a lot. Stout 3" blade shaving sharp, 7" overall and a plastic sheath that goes right or left and can be used as a neck sheath. It tucks nicely into my RR pocket while on the belt, I can see this as my new work knife. Satin silver finish and orange grips, I'll let them orange for a while but they'll probably get dyed black and I might even make a set. I'm sure they've been discussed before but for $16.10?

8. No Deal Spotting
BladeForums.com stays open due to paid subscriptions from various member groups, including Dealers who help sponsor this site. A dealer who does not have a paid subscription is not allowed to advertise in any way, shape, or form. In the past, dealers have used 'shill' accounts to promote themselves & their products; as a result we've limited all dealer advertising to The Exchange or registered Dealers with active paid subscriptions.

I have the white handled one with the stonewashed blade and I like it. Blades are thin but for what they're for, decent. The mesa/endevor is much more substantial for 2X the cost.

I personally like orange scales for hunting/work knives. A lot easier to find when lost.

Sorry for the transgression, won't happen again. If a product is exclusive to the retailer in question not sure the problem but rules are rules. If you can show me where a BF.com registered dealer has these knives for close to this price I'd appreciate it. Thanks and again sorry.

noticed it awhile ago. I dont really care for these buck models. dont own one so I havent used one, just visually they dont catch me.

for those like 'em enjoy 'em.

Here they are side by side. Blades similar but handles much different. The El Morro came in a box and the Maverik in a clam shell. Granted not the most elegant knives Buck ever made.

Edit for breaking photo rules. Not used to so many rules, sorry again.

It's probably because you gave the actual name of the store...The same thing happened to me...Use a weird name for the places, we'll figure it out...

Plus you posted a price and you need to be a Gold member to do that...

I have two of the white handle Maverick.
They make a nice food prep knife.
Haven't had a chance to prep any food on the hoof with one yet ... Maybe next year ...

BF is a huge database and has a lot of throughput. That means it's expensive to operate.

The folks who purchase dealer memberships support this site. They pay goodly percentage of the costs of running this place.
Why would you want to advertise for their competitors?
