Recommendation? Fixed blade with "Mora lock"?

The Mora Companion has been riding in my work pants for a long time now, and much of the reason is the way I can carry it.
Instead of clipping it to my belt, it hooks on a button on my thigh, leaving it out of the way in basically any position.

I've come to the conclusion that I need this feature from a fixed blades sheath, but it seems that it is mainly a Mora thing?

Anyone know of other knives that have this?

Hultafors also offers this feature.
Like Moraknives the Hultafors are made as a system for work in collaboration with the clothing manufacturers.
That button on the trousers right leg is there for carrying a knife for work.
Most leathersheaths can have a buttonhole made in the back of the beltloop for a button attachment.

I see You are from Norway and this backsewn leathersheath is made in Norway for BergoTools.
I use it with a 30 years old favorite Mora, rehandled in curly birch.

Mikael

Yeah, I've got a Hultafors GK as well, great work knife, but I've been looking for something "nicer" for a while.

I’d probably get ”anything that you fancy” and then get custom sheath made for it. Kydex plate on the sheath could work..

Yeah, I was hoping the Izula could fill my needs, but no.
Been looking hard at the White River Backpacker as well, but same problem.

Who makes good kydex sheaths?

Personally I avoid kydex as IMO they collect a lot of dirt.
For a compact knife around the size of the WRB, I got the Fällkniven WM1 in 3G powdersteel.
The zytelsheath is very slim, around 1/2" thick, but it have space around the blade for easy cleaning.

I wanted a larger handle than the original and made one to my specs.
It's easy to punch a hole in the cordura beltloop, for the knifebutton.
When I do, I also melt the edges around the hole.

I have many options to carry this knife.

You don't need a new sheath if the one you have has attachment holes, all you need is an appropriately drilled attachment plate and mounting hardware or glue. You could even look for a replacement Mora sheath or buy the cheapest model you can find that includes a sheath and cut the attachment off and mount it to your sheath of choice.

Mounting a knife to your thigh can also be done with leg-strap and dangler set-up, although it adds bulk.

My Jarvenpaa puukko also has a button-hole in the belt-loop, and I think my Marttiini filet knife does as well. I assumed it was a Nordic thing.

I too have recently discovered the awesomeness of the button-mount sheath!

Cold Steel's "Lite" series of fixed blades (Pendleton Lite Hunter, Finn Bear, Roach Belly, Outdoorsman Lite, Canadian Belt Knife) used to ship with a cheap nylon fabric sheath, but are now shipping with upgraded hard plastic sheaths. I can absolutely confirm that the Canadian Belt Knife sheath has a button cutout, and I suspect the others do as well. Some great values in that line.

Lots of Scandinavian knives utilize button-compatible sheathes. Often you'll find a slit cut in the back of a belt loop for button compatibility. Check out Bahco and Helle.
