Hi, does anybody know a fixed bladed wharncliffe, but not a neckknife ? Not to big, e.g. abot 3" blade length.

Curious, what advantage does a wharncliffe profile have over say a tanto or regular clip point? Only thing I can really see is that it has one continuous straight edge. Am I missing something else?

etp777,
In my experience, Wharnecliffe's are a great pattern for precision cutting. They also power thru cuts like no other blade design I've used to date. If you get a chance, try one out in some utility type cutting tests. ;)

I've got that Strider WP in a custom neck rig. It's a monster of a little knife, incredibly strong and holds that sharp edge. I played with it in the kitchen for a while. One of the tricks it's good at is a saber grip with your thumb running all the way down the back: tremendous control of the tip, powering through any reasonable material. The nice thing about a straight edge is that you really know where it's cutting, while a curved edge can deceive you. It's like a gigantic X-Acto knife or boxcutter.

Reason I asked is cuz I'm getting 7ft of steel in from Texas Knife tomorrow hopefully. And always interested in trying something new. So guess what I'm gonna be grinding? :)

Some good points there, so yeah, think I'll try it out.

Esp. last one on being able to actually see what yo'ure cutting. well, iknow what yo'ure cutting. wahtever. :)

Thanks a lot you all for your ideas , you are very helpful.
The AnsoKnives and the Jeff Diotte Pirhana look very pretty and the ones from Michael Cooper as well. The Strider with the rope is not so much my way. I searched in the forum for wharncliff, KarlW , but I didn't find him. Now I have to save my money - no Bratwurst any more till chrismas :D and than, may be ;)
I like the wharncliffe becaus of the exhausting form and the prezise
cuts and is pretty good cutting little sticks. I love my Double Cross,
Kershaw and the Beretta Trident, and the Klotzli, and the William Henry International, and the Buck ECCO, and ............

I looked threw all the above named links an found some really interesting fixed wahrncliffes, but it is not so easy to get them here in Germany. May be the Spyderco Ronin will come out here this year, it has the right length (3") und has a 'nearly' wharncliffe-shape, but I am not shure if I would like to carry a neck-knife,
so we'll see.
Thanks a lot for your help an your ideas. :)

sorry i'm finding this so late after the fact, but Webb and Fisher makes a terrific wharncliffe, ( I have it) 3 inches blade length, around 6.5 overall, sharp as hell strong point, great kydex sheath ,around $130 with guard, less without (or I'll sell you mine if you like)
