I am looking for a knife I can beat on that I can keep in the trunk of my car. I came down to one of these two knives. I am worried that the Contego s30v might chip (I might just be paranoid) or that the Arvensis is too thick. What do you guys think?

Probably nothing, but I want an all around knife I can do whatever with in my car trunk for any emergency situation.

I'd take a 154CM blade over S30V for beating on, but the Arvensis is a conundrum to me. It's huge, thick, and I can't quite give it a use in my head. Sexy AF though. If I wanted a beater that lived in my car, I'd probably get a 15008 or another 162, like Jimmy mentioned.

I am just worried about the Fixed Contego ergos since I don't have large hands. I just wish the Arvensis was slightly thinner.

Maybe I can just stick both of them in my car trunk?...

Why isn't the Fixed Contego M4 also... What a shame.

That was everyone's question when they released it. The fixed Contego came out around the time that Benchmade decided steel technology stopped at S30V, and 95% of their current new releases are in a steel that peaked in 2005.

...not that I'm bitter or anything.

Don't forget the Bushcrafter.

My Bushcrafter has been a great camp/field knife. While I haven't beat on it yet (e.g. batoning) I have removed some medium sized limbs with it and it did a fine job, no chipping or edge damage. And I love the egos of the handle. FYI, I have medium sized hands.
