What small, flat fixed knife would you recommend to carry horizontally on my belt? Like a neck knife size. I would prefer it to have handles, but not too thick.

By the way, which area of the waist do you like for carrying a horizontal knife? front, back, one side...

Thank you.

Depends on how comfortable you are with the size of your blade, My folders I favor around the 8'' but a fixed blade on that size is too big for me, I carry a small neck sized blade on the belt. I did not have any knives to test with first so I went with a kitchen knife... might work for you too

I don't own any small fixed blades which can be carried horizontally (yet), the only one of my fixies that I carry like that is a TOPS Tracker #3 on the small of my back. I am looking rather frequently a Bradford Guardian 3 and 4, those look super nice!

Bradford Guardian line fits the bill. Several blade lengths, steel and handle choices available. Mine is a Guardian 3 in Magnacut. Cuts like a scalpel.

I usually edc a small fixed blade on my belt. Left side cross draw. Too many great options to list them all. I’d recommend looking at the work done by some of the makers on the forum. David Mary makes great edc fixed blades. Here are a few of my favorites to carryIMG_2264.jpegIMG_2360.jpegIMG_2220.jpegIMG_2369.jpeg

I carry most fixed blades with 5” and under blade length horizontally at about 1100 o’clock to allow for either hand drawing. I carry a fixed blade daily, and find this position great all around. Lots of great smaller fixed blades to choose from. Really depends on your price point, needs/wants for overall and handle/blade length (I prefer a full grip vs 3 finger but some are great regardless), steel, etc.

Lots of great suggestions listed. Some of the ones I carry horizontally from makers on this site are: CPK, CPE, David Mary, Kornalski ODC, Slaughter, Volunteer Knife models 3, 4.2,4.5.

Terava 110 is great and a handy size. ESEE Izula with extended grip is a really great small knife. If on a budget, Cold Steel Master hunter and Mini Pendleton are great with aftermarket kydex.

There are many others I hope to try soon.

Horsewright Horsewright will have a knife that is exactly what you are looking for.
Came here to say this, his set up and execution of both sheaths and blades is truly masterful.
Thank you guys for the shout out!! Sorry I'm late to the party. I was in the shop. Well........making what we're talking about. I was finishing off this batch of sheaths today for a batch of knives I'd finished over the weekend.

That's just a fe> I've been a proponent of this style of carry for small fixed blades for a long time and a personal practitioner for several decades. I've found 7" oak is about the max length ya want to carry horizontal. I do have customers that do carry much longer knives that way but they make adjustments. Stay under 7" and it will be comfortable and ya not be catching it on seatbelt, door jambs etc. Of the 18 knives and sheaths I just finished only one was over 7 inches. This really is what I do.

Hope this helps some.
