Fixed or Clamped Sharpening System That Can Sharpen Low Angles

I’m looking for a way to sharpen to 10-12 degrees per side with a clamped system or something that holds the blade in place for me.

Every clamping system I’ve tried has the issue of hitting the clamp with the stone at the angles I sharpen. I’ve tried a DMT Aligner, Lansky, and a couple of other systems both bought and home made. Eventually the stone, holder, or clamp screw hits the blade or some other obstacle.

On the other hand I’ve tried just holding the blade with one hand and sharpening with the other and that takes a degree of coordination I’m not able to maintain while holding sharp objects. Is there a system that allows such low angles and still holds the blade for me?

Wicked Edge has a low-angle kit for its sharpeners. I believe it goes down to 9 degrees. The kit is $141, but if you don't already have a WE setup, the upfront costs will be high, unless you just want a really nice guided system.

A magnetic table will allow you to lower the angle as much as you want while making it relatively easy to hold the knife in place. The Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust comes with both a magnetic table and a clamp. You can get a magnetic table and/or clamps for Hapstone systems.
