Hello!

Finally started using a Military, at first seemed to big and clumsy, but now I know why it's a legend.

What would you be your suggestions for a similar style fixed? High end steel, a slicer, top knife company; my mom really got hooked for it. But I suppose a fixed would be a better candidate for kitchen usage.

Thanks again.

You're probably looking for a full flat grind of a similar size made out of decent steel with a good heat treat: the Russell Deerhunter in D2 springs to mind. They do a smaller version - maybe called the Scalpel ? - that might make an even better kitchen utility. I keep meaning to pick a couple up myself the next time I'm in the US. They come with locking plastic sheaths ideal for kitchen use.

And a fixed is definitely better: the crevices in folders provide a harbour for bacteria if used for regular food prep.

Spyderco South Fork of course :D Yes, I know it is a different blade design but it fits all the criteria listed

What capid1 said.

The South Fork has an overall length of 9.57" and the Military is 9.5" overall.
