Got a Chaves from a member on here a while back. He had an issue with some backspacer bolts and threads. Had some buddies try and fix it up but they had no success, so he put it up for sale for a reasonable price stating full disclosure.

No backspacer bolts were included, I assume they threw them in a dark body of water somewhere. Scales are Ti, backspacer is also Ti (thought it was something else originally).

Looks like fun :)

Here are some pics of how i got it.

I think the original Ti backspacer bolts threaded into the Ti backspacer, with limited thread engagement. Tiny Ti bolts screwing into tiny Ti threads is a recipe for disaster, bad design in my eyes. Anyways.

Found some "gulso" bolts which are basically a body fit through bolt. It threads into itself.

The hard part during this fix was finding the "center" of each hole as a couple were pretty messed up and egged out, I had oversize the holes but I needed to find the center so all parts fit back together.

After finding the center of the holes I drilled them out, countersunk them to fit the new bolts, and the new bigger bolt heads,

I'm amazed that someone screwed that up so bad. FYI, the Chavez screws go from one scale thru the back spacer and thread into the other scale. I have a Sangre and a new Rendicion and both are built with the longer screws at the clip end.

That makes more sense to me, but it looked like the backspacer had threads in it? Titanium can be hard on HSS so it will dull drill / taps / etc if you run it too fast.

Now that you said the scale is threaded, maybe they broke a tap in the scale while trying to repair the thread?? And that's when sh*t got real.

Looks like I forgot to post final pics. Here we go.

Decent centering, detent is massively strong (similar to my other Chaves), lock up is good, new hardware (T20) looks fine.

I didn’t realize this was a thread, yes it looks far better than when i shipped it to you. I commend on you on the time and effort.
