Hello gang, got this one in from a friend out west, for me to hold for
a while, not a bad deal :)
She needed a little clean up, the fancy side was dinged up, so, I took
some 2000 grit sand paper that I picked up from Walmart, in the auto section.
and very carefully ran the scale in one direction so as not to add marks to
the scale, came out pretty nice, I had also moved the allen head side
of the screws to the lock bar side, and before I reassembled it, I lightly
sanded the heads of those and rubbed them on my knife strop to polish
them up too.

Here are some images showing before, the sanding and the final;

Nice knife, have to sharpen her up a bit, but no worries on that ;)

Mr Graley, that is one very impressive job:thumbup::thumbup:.
Do let us know how sharp of an edge you could get on it:D.

And thank you from the gentleman from out west ;)
Thanks again Raj for the loan of this lovely folder sir
you're too kind! and yes, it's sharpening up nicely!
G2

That is a fine job you did. It is nice to know that even if you use them hard a little TLC will bring them back.

Excellent work as usual Gary. Now you should make one of those sweet leather sheaths that you do, for that sebbie!

Jules

Thanks Chris and Jules and as to a sheath, I have one, I made it back in
2000, a friend, Greg Mete aka KodiakPA from up in Alaska, saw this one
on ebay, he bidded on it, won and sent it to me as a gift and now, I have
the opportunity to use it! Amazing eh?

edited to add a quick shot of the knife in it's old sheath

Take a look at this comparison,
Top knife is the Benchmade Rukus
the next is a LARGE Sebenza
next a Kershaw Leek with G10 scales

off to the side is a Jim Serven custom folder with 1 7/8" blade
a real cutie ;)

But that Rukus, what a beast eh?

Great collection Gary, which one do you tend to favor more? And I love that black sheath you posted. Actually I admire all your sheaths:thumbup:

Tomorrow I will try to grab a couple pic's of some of your sheaths that I have aquired in my travels. Your work and detailing is remarkable!

Jules

Thanks guys, and Jules, the more practical knife is the leek
small but large enough to handle most tasks while the Sebenza
is pretty classy, so, I carry a few on me at a time.
The leek clipped in my pocket
Sebenza in the sheath on my belt
Jim Serven in a sheath after the Sebenza sheath, as a nice small knife
to have

G2

And Jules, that would be interesting to see, Greg has quite a large
collection of sheaths, made a few years ago, he may have parted with
some by now, but I remember he was more interested in the sheaths than
some of the knives ;) I wondered about him sometimes...:)

The black sheath above, the little details in there are coloured deep dark green
hard to tell from that shot, I had made a large and a small with similar carvings
on the front. For a fellow out in the Dakota's I think, it's been 8 years so pardon
my memory lol, as I recall he kept the small and sold the large Sebenza and who
ever got that, broke up the knife/sheath and it ended up on Ebay.

Nice one G2! My son who is in the Marines has my Sebbie along with one of your sheaths. Glad to see that you can use that "old" sheath. It was made by a master so be good to it!
:)

Tricker, sorry, the thread was a how to type deal, as I don't take on
refurbishings, best left to the experts!

And Greg, Thanks! Howdy partner!
A Marine eh? I'm sure he's doing our country proud, good to see you again!
G2

Got 2 in the service now Gary. The oldest is the Marine the youngest is currently training to be a S.E.R.E. instuctor with the Air Force. Talk about a guy who uses a knife a lot.

I gave him my Alan Blade talonite MEUK among many others since he uses 'em and I just normally carry them and don't cut all that much.

Gary I was able to click off a few shots of your fabulous sheaths I have.
I can't really say which I like the best or reach for the most. It pretty much becomes decided with what I wear!;) ....I know, just spoiled!:p:D

Thanks Jules, wow, what a trip down memory lane!
Most I remember but the smaller one I don't recall
must be someone wanted foot prints in the sand or something
and I use to dye the back as black.

I remember one sheath I made for a guy out west, he called
me when opened up the package and a guy that was with him
saw the markings on the back, 5.00 and said, wow, only $5?
the guy just laughed, yeah right, he embosses the price on each one...:)

Thanks for the post, glad someone is still enjoying them!
And Jules, the small sheath, looks like you're using that to fit the Mnandi?
it was made for a small Sebenza I think...
and the horizontals, the butt end of the knife goes in first on those where
on the verticals I made it so the butt end is up..

And Greg, two boys in the service of our country, nice sir, very nice!
G2

Oh and Lycosa, the fellow was impressed to say the least about
the way it cleaned up, still will let me hang onto it for now, rule is
when I'm done admiring it, it goes back to him, but, that will be a while ;)
