I wore this knife to work for a week or two, back when I worked Landscape Construction. Was great for digging up weed beds, cutting ropes and weedwacker cord, even chopping down the odd tree. Clearly not the ideal tool for the job, but come on. I like awesome knives.
Anyhow, several months ago my roomies and I used the Laredo to hack a chair into pieces, mostly for kicks and giggles. (We were sober at the time, in case anybody was wondering...) Now the brass handguard of the knife rattles slightly. The grip is still solid, and the knife is still functional, but I don't know what's up with the handguard; it's as if the ferrule came loose or the brass got deformed or something. Can't say for sure. The treated hardwood chair was probably more than the knife was meant for.
I wonder if there's any way I can fix this - I'm not very good at brazing or welding yet, but I'm not above trying it. The tip of the knife is pretty far gone as well, and I'm seriously considering just buying a second one...but if the damage is fixable that might be a neat little project. Anyone?
Cheers.
