Hopefully not coming across as a jackass, but in order to fix play, you have to be able to adjust the modality with the play. So basically there are two things that are a little too far apart, and they need to come closer together. Obviously that's going to be more practical with some designs than others.
A pinned lock-back, for example, doesn't allow for anywhere near as much adjustment as a Sebenza (yes, beating dead horse). The former being more of an SOL situation when play inevitably develops, and the latter having almost no capacity to develop lateral play (but washers that can be replaced if it does) and self-adjustment in the axial direction (for a very long time, if not essentially forever).
So... I guess I would look for a frame lock with a well mated bar and no lateral play when it's unlocked, if you really want no play.
