I was wondering if their is a way to fix up and down blade play? I am curious because 1 my CS ti-lite has a little (up and down) and 2 SOG knives (which I plan on getting a few) have similar issues. My idea was to dab a little glue at the base of the tang to create a tighter fit. Would that work or am I shit out of luck?

For the CS knives put on a heavy glove and bang the blade spine first on some thing wooden a few times, if that doesn't work send call them and see if you can send it back to them to fix it.

If you buy SOG folders, plan on having blade play. And on paying more than what the knife is worth.

for a liner lock, take the knife apart and bend the lock so it is tighter a little at a time..........

Hopefully not coming across as a jackass, but in order to fix play, you have to be able to adjust the modality with the play. So basically there are two things that are a little too far apart, and they need to come closer together. Obviously that's going to be more practical with some designs than others.

A pinned lock-back, for example, doesn't allow for anywhere near as much adjustment as a Sebenza (yes, beating dead horse). The former being more of an SOL situation when play inevitably develops, and the latter having almost no capacity to develop lateral play (but washers that can be replaced if it does) and self-adjustment in the axial direction (for a very long time, if not essentially forever).

So... I guess I would look for a frame lock with a well mated bar and no lateral play when it's unlocked, if you really want no play.

I don't think a welder would charge much to weld or even braze up the mating surface of the tang to take up the play, then you would need to grind or sand it some to fit it yourself, I am a mechanic and I think it's a very viable option.

For a lockback, clamp the knife in a cushioned vice, and tap (with a brass punch) the rear of the spine where it engages the locking notch in the blade. After a few taps, it should lock up a little tighter.

thx - cpr
